Wanted: shoes. Women's, men's and children's. The Dancing House Gallery, together with the Art Salon S association, is announcing a public collection of fashion footwear, primarily from the last century. Photos or the actual shoe treasures themselves can be sent in until April 2023. Well-preserved pieces, from Czechoslovak as well as foreign brands, will make it all the way to an exhibition in which the Dancing House Gallery will map the history of footwear and the best-known brands and types of shoes. Because shoes, too, leave traces of how people lived.
Footwear helps shape the image of its wearer. It follows fashion, reflects trends and customs – and in doing so becomes a witness to its era. The Dancing House Gallery wants to map the best-known brands and types of shoes and use them to retell the history of footwear. It is therefore announcing a public collection of fashion footwear. The gallery is looking primarily for fashion shoes from the last century. From the iconic Czech brands Baťa, Svit, Botas, but also shoes that could be bought from foreign fashion houses such as Prada, Fendi or Gucci.
Shoe treasures can be donated or loaned long-term to the Dancing House Gallery. What's required is that they be in good condition, suitable for display. The goal is to preserve these pieces for years to come and present them tastefully. The public collection runs until the end of April 2023. The gallery is looking for sandals, pumps, patent leather shoes, or even hiking boots that deserve a second chance somewhere other than a shoe rack or attic. Perhaps they'll make it into the exhibition, where, as part of a testimony for future generations, they'll never go out of style.
The organizer of the fashion footwear exhibition is the Art Salon S association. It has already successfully carried out a similar public collection in the past – for the Retro Museum Prague, it gathered more than 12,000 period objects. Art Salon S has helped prepare some forty successful exhibitions, including several retro-themed exhibitions at the Dancing House Gallery. The gallery's main goal is to offer visitors a rich cultural experience by presenting the best of Czech and international art and design. The gallery also organizes guided tours, lectures and workshops. In this way, it strives to connect people's everyday world with the world of art.

The public shoe collection is organized by the Art Salon S association, founded in 2014. Under the leadership of its chairman Robert Vůjtek, the association has staged some forty successful exhibitions in Prague and across the rest of the country. It runs the Retro Museum Prague in the Kotva department store and has presented period exhibitions such as Retro of the 70s and 80s, Retro Toys of the Communist Era, Retro Winter of the Communist Era, and Retro Cinema; it has organized a retrospective of Bořek Šípek, the Memories exhibition by Robert Van, and several exhibitions of Kája Saudek.
