Dry feet are not only unsightly but can also hurt
Dry, cracked skin on heels is one of the most common problems for women. It's not just an aesthetic issue – cracks can be painful and in extreme cases bleed. Regular hydration is therefore essential.
Why feet dry out
Feet have very few sebaceous glands, making them prone to dryness. Moreover, they are daily exposed to pressure, friction and adverse effects (hard floors, unsuitable shoes). Without regular care, skin becomes hard and loses elasticity.
How to properly hydrate feet
- Every day – Apply moisturizing cream after a bath or shower, ideally in the evening before bed.
- Choose creams with urea – Urea (10–20 %) can remove hard skin and hydrate at the same time.
- Shea butter and hyaluronic acid – great for regeneration and moisture retention.
- Night wraps – Apply a thick layer of cream, put on cotton socks and leave until morning. Once a week works wonders.
- Drink enough water – Hydration from within is as important as from outside.
Common hydration mistakes
- Too hot water – Dries out skin. Use lukewarm water.
- Insufficient drying between toes – Moisture leads to fungus.
- Applying cream to wet skin – Cream absorbs better into dry but pre-prepared (steamed) skin.
- Forgetting the heels – Heels are the most stressed, give them extra care.
